Mission Statement

Geospatial Health Studies Division

The Geospatial Health Studies Division (GHSD) is dedicated to advancing knowledge at the intersection of geography, public health, and spatial analysis.

Our mission is to conduct innovative research that utilizes geospatial techniques to understand the spatial distribution of health outcomes, identify environmental determinants of health, and inform evidence-based interventions to promote health equity and improve population health.
Methodological Approach

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

GHSD utilizes GIS software and spatial analysis techniques to visualize, manipulate, and analyze spatial data related to health, environment, and population demographics. We create maps, spatial databases, and spatial models to explore spatial relationships and patterns in health data.
